The felt bags that I make are first knittted with 100% wool yarn then thrown
into a hot washing machine to be agitated as much as possible. This causes
the fibers to mesh together to become a completely different
material...felt! I then have a somewhat fancy, blank canvas to create upon.
This is where the seeds beads get brought out, colors chosen and woven
into some design upon the purse. I don't make these little beads; they are
from Czechoslovakia or Japan. The bead weaving stitch that I prefer to use
is the peyote stitch. I also use a lot of beads for fringe work--I love
fringe! I like to add my hand made clay buttons or large focal beads to the
closures.
Each felt bag can take from 12 to 36 hours to complete. Before I know it, a bag
has a life of it's own and

assumes it's own personality. They are extremely durable, washable (but only AIR-dryable!) and a lot of fun to wear!
